Gary Goes Global
Company founder, Gary Markle, took his Catalytic Coaching workshop to Europe this summer speaking to ten CEO groups over the course of three weeks. “Vistage International (UK) rolled out the red carpet and treated me like family,” says Gary of his warm reception in the United Kingdom. “They couldn’t have been more gracious or accommodating as they laid the path for me to crisscross back and forth across England, Scotland and Ireland. They provided travel tips for time off. They even helped me coordinate activities with a new client in Yorkshire, England. The trip was nothing short of fabulous! I had a blast learning to translate Catalytic Coaching into English.”

Another Awesome Coordinators Conference
This May we concluded our fourth Catalytic Coaching Coordinators Conference. A dozen HR leaders and line managers from eight states converged in Atlanta for a week of concentrated focus on their favorite performance management and talent development program. Slightly more than half of the attendees had a primary mission to learn the system conversion process. The balance came from companies already using Catalytic Coaching. Their learning objectives were focused on improving Coach2 skills used to coach other coaches and taking their previously established systems to higher levels.

Background
You’ve no doubt noticed in the past few years that there’s a revolt going on against traditional performance reviews. You know, those systems that use forms where managers have to rate employees on a scale for a variety of different qualities. Consultants and other thought leaders in HR have lately been vocal in their criticism, which goes something like this: Managers hate giving performance reviews. Employees hate getting them. While they’re supposed to improve morale, they destroy it. While they’re supposed to prevent lawsuits (by documenting performance), they end up doing the opposite. Because everyone hates them so much, they’re done haphazardly and plaintiffs’ lawyers find in them fodder for lawsuits. So, if performance reviews are so bad, let's get rid of them.
Business 21 Publishing conducted a survey to see how HR people felt their managers perceived their companies’ performance evaluation system (and at the same time test the hypothesis that performance evaluations should be relegated to the trash bin).
